Hidden files in the Bianca wharf (UPDATE: bianca-sftp.uppmax.uu.se back online) closed

We have received reports and seen cases that files appear hidden in the wharf. We are working on correting this issue and advice users to report any missing file issues to our support at support@uppmax.uu.se

The problem is related to an old and familiar issue with the GlusterFS filesystem that is used in the wharf and project directory. We have automation that corrects this but it has unfortunately not yet been able to go thorough all affected wharfs.

Update 15:00, April 7th

The issue was that the wharf after the April maintenance window incorrectly ended up mounting an older snapshot of the wharf. If you could not see the most recent uploads, or if you saw files you had previously deleted from your wharf, you most likely saw an old snapshot. We have corrected this by mounting the most recent filesystem, however, this has the consequence that any files uploaded to your wharf since Thursday, 2nd April last week needs to be re-uploaded. If you run into issues re-uploading your files again, please contact us again at support@uppmax.uu.se and we will assist.

Update 16:30, April 6th

We have with short notice decided to temporarily close down the wharf service at bianca-sftp.uppmax.uu.se. Closing down the wharf is needed as we remount the storage system, where the wharfs are located. After this, we believe many of the cases with hidden files will be resolved.

Update 09:00, April 6th

There are still projects with hidden files. These cases will be handled by the support at support@uppmax.uu.se. If you are not seeing the files you upload, or if you see an old snapshot of your previous files, please send us a an mail and we will get back to you.

Update 17:30

Castor is now working better and we are slowly but surely removing each case of hidden files. There are unfortunately quite a few projects left to search and some users might still find hidden files in their wharf. This system news will remain open until all issues has been resolved. Next update on monday.
