Rackham and Snowy are leaving open

Pelle is operational since October 1. We are successively turning off Rackham nodes at each service window.

If you are still dependent on Rackham or Snowy for any compute tasks, we strongly urge you to start using Pelle.

The number of T4 GPUs on Snowy have also been reduced, and will soon be available in Pelle instead, together with some Nvidia A2 cards. We hope that these will be a welcome resource for prototyping and teaching that doesn’t need the full L40s or H100 GPUs.

Storage is still being migrated to Gorilla. In the very near term, home directories will move to fast flash-based storage. Further project migration will happen at a later point. Deploying the new Maja environment will happen after that.

It is likely that Snowy and Rackham will be fully turned off in their current form by the end of January 2026.
