December maintenance window closed

The December maintenance window will begin at 09:00 CET on 3 December.

• Login nodes will be restarted.

• All systems will receive important bug fixes and security updates.

• The queues will be stopped for Pelle, Rackham and Snowy.

• We are doing maintenance on the clusters preparing to take parts of the storage system Gorilla in production. We plan to do the final sync of home directories during the service window and during that time all file system access will be stopped. In order to do that all nodes in Pelle, Rackham and Snowy will be stopped during the day. We plan to bring them up again later during the day.

• Other than this, no changes are planned. But as always, there is an increased probability of minor glitches or outages.

Maintenance has begun. Pelle, Rackham, Snowy are stopped.

Miarka3 and Transit are also affected since they also mount the home directories that are being moved.

Maintenance continues. All home directories have been synced to the new storage but work continues.

Just to be clear, Bianca is up and running. The new server Transit, running Rocky9 instead of the old Centos7, is in need of some more testing.

We will not be able to finish the service window today Wednesday but have to continue tomorow. But things are looking good, no show stoppers so far.

We are very happy to be able to test running on the new Gorilla file system, if only for our home directories so far and will be a pleasure to hopefully letting you all in tomorrow.
