Maintenance planned for March 6th closed

The Slurm queues on Bianca will be halted for a minimum of 24 hours, potentially extending to an estimated 72 hours. This is due to two main activities: 1) migrating projects from the old storage system (Castor) to the more recent storage system (Cygnus), and 2) upgrading our cloud platform. The Cygnus storage system has been in production for some time now and has served as the default storage system for all new projects since autumn 2023. The upgraded cloud platform includes stability and performance enhancements.

Any disturbances on the accessible systems while the service window remains open should be assumed as related to the service window. Please hold contacting the support until the service is announced completed. You can follow our progress on this page throughout the day.

We have encountered an issue unrelated to maintenance that will postpone the production of Bianca until March 8th. Yesterday, one storage server in Castor unexpectedly shut down. While we have replaced the server, the sudden outage resulted in stale files (not corrupted) in Castor, which need to be repaired before we can resume production. Although progress is being made, we will not be able to repair all stale files across all projects in Castor by the end of today. We apologize for this inconvenience.

The upgrade of the cloud platform in Bianca has completed. We are now performing tests to verify that everything is functioning as expected. Maintenance on UPPMAX cloud is ongoing, but should not impact users.
