April maintenance window closed

The April maintenance window will start at 09:00 CET on April 6.

On April 6 we will begin working on expanding Crex. Crex will be expanded with an additional 3.75 PB of effecive storage as foretold in earlier news. The queues on Rackham and Snowy will be stopped and /proj will be unavailable during the expansion. We expect the work to take at least 24 hours hence /proj might be unavailable on April 7 (Thursday) and possibly part of April 8 (Friday). We will update the maintenance window status page (link below) regularly.

Miarka will get a minor Slurm configuration update, which might shake things a bit during the maintenace day, but the queues are expected to be open.

The home storage system (“Domus”) for Rackham and Snowy will receive an update.

Any disturbances on the accessible systems while the service window remains open should be assumed as related to the service window. Please hold contacting the support until the service is announced completed. You can follow our progress on this page throughout the day.

The problem with Domus was resolved yesterday evening. Rackham and Snowy are open for users and jobs have been running since ~09:00. We will allow more jobs to run as we confirm that the extension of Crex works as expected.

Rackham and Snowy unfortunately got delayed into production this afternoon as we together with the vendor service the home project storage Domus. We will continue working during the evening to get Rackham and Snowy back into production as soon as possible. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Bianca and UPPMAX Cloud completed. Rackham and Snowy expected in production soon. We might release shorter jobs first in order to monitor the new storage system with real-world load and ensure everything is operational from a performance standpoint.

No major changes. Bianca and UPPMAX Cloud expected to complete at 15:00. Final tests ongoing for Rackham and Snowy.

Maintenance on Dis och Bianca continues. Final tests of the expanded project storage system and configuration for Rackham and Snowy. Issue with lowered availability still remains for home storage system.

Maintenance on Irma is completed. Maintenance on UPPMAX Cloud and Bianca is still progressing. Rackham and Snowy is receiving updated Lustre configuration in order to access Crex. Maintenance will continue tomorrow morning.

Maintenance on Miarka is completed. Storage expansion work of Crex is progressing without issues. We have an issue updating Domus which we will continue to look at. Next update at 17:00.

Maintenance progressing. We are a bit behind in schedule due to extra work with the storage network. This is now done and the expansion of Crex is expected to begin shortly. Next update at 15:00.
