The new UPPMAX Cloud now available at east-1.cloud.snic.se closed

We are happy to announce that the next iteration of the UPPMAX cloud is now open for general use at https://east-1.cloud.snic.se. Local course projects and a few SNIC test projects have already been running and we now expect the rest of the active projects from the old cloud region https://uppmax.cloud.snic.se to migrate.

If you have an active project in the old cloud region at https://uppmax.cloud.snic.se please begin migrating over and use the new region. We are planning to close down the old region at the end of the year.

FAQ

Why the new region names?

The SNIC Science cloud regions have been renamed to east-1 (UPPMAX), west-1 (C3SE) and (upcoming) north-1 (HPC2N). The new region name schema will offer more flexibility for future upgrades of the cloud.

I have left important data in volumes in the old cloud region but do not have an active project to retreive it

What version of OpenStack and what new features are available?

We are currently running OpenStack Stein - the 19th release of OpenStack (read details here). You can find the and we are planning to perform a rolling upgrade to later versions as they are released.
