August maintenance window (Updated! Queues on Rackham and Snowy will be stopped) closed

The service on August 5th will begin at 09:00 CEST. Update: Queues on Rackham and Snowy will be stopped (see below). All systems will receive bug fixes and security updates.

We have a minor system update planned for the Crex storage system. Crex houses the project directories for Rackham and Snowy. The update will be performed with the filsystem online and should not cause any issues, however we might see variations in the performance during the upgrade. The upgrade is estimated to start at 10:00 CEST and end at 12:00 CEST.

Any disturbances on the accessible systems while the service window remains open should be assumed as related to the service window and await contacting the support. If the problems remain after the service window has been closed you are of course welcome to contact the support at support@uppmax.uu.se.

Update 2020-08-05 15:00 Bianca is back in production. The delay was caused with issues related to the Bianca wharf. This concludes the maintenance work for august.

Update 2020-08-05 08:00 Rackham is back in production, starting out with a subset of nodes, and more will be added during the next hours. Maintenance on Bianca continues.

Update 2020-08-05 23:00 Snowy is back in production. Progress on Rackham is moving along without issues, however the office is still not fully staffed and things unfortunately move slower than usual. We hope to have Rackham back in production before lunch tomorrow. Maintenance on Bianca is ongoing. You might have issues connecting to the wharf and transit services as these are still being updated. Logins to your compute nodes should work.

Update 2020-08-05 19:00 We expect the Snowy cluster to return to production within then next hour.

Update 2020-08-05 17:00 The maintenance work on Crex has completed. We are now working in getting Rackham and Snowy back in production. We are a bit behind on restarting login nodes and external services, so if you experience a loss of temporary access to some service please note that the maintenance window is still ongoing.

Update 2020-08-05 15:00 Maintenance progressing without issues. We have replaced the troublesome hardware in the project storage system Crex and are now working on updating the system itself. Next update at 17:00.

Update 2020-08-05 12:00 Maintenance progressing without issues. The login nodes for rackham will return within the next hours but will not be connected to the storage system right away. You will however be able to browse your home directory and submit jobs.

Update 2020-08-05 09:00 Maintenance has started.
