January maintenance window closed
The service on January 8th will begin at 09:00 CET. The queues on Rackham and Snowy will be stopped.
Irma, Bianca, Grus, Castor and the UPPMAX Cloud will receive the usual system bug fixes and security updates without stopping the queues. The clusters will get a minor upgrade of Slurm.
Due to a software update and a controller replacement on our storage system Crex, all nodes on Rackham and Snowy, including the login nodes, will be stopped for a couple of hours. This implies no access to those clusters for this period.
Any disturbances on the accessible systems while the service window remains open should be assumed as related to the service window and await contacting the support. If the problems remain after the service window has been closed you are of course welcome to contact the support at support@uppmax.uu.se.

Maintenance completed. Rackham and Snow is back in production and the /proj
directories are now available as before. If you have any questions, please

Maintenance on the project storage system for Rackham and Snowy continues. We
have opened for access to rackham.uppmax.uu.se however the Slurm queue remain
stopped (for both Snowy and Rackham) and the project directories under /proj
remains unaccessible during maintenance.
Update 2020-01-08 17:00
All systems except Rackham and Snowy have been completed. Unfortunately it is not likely that we will have these systems back in production today, as the work on the project storage system Crex has been stalled. A positive is that we have successfully completed the Lustre server software upgrade, thus eliminating the risk to end up in the same situation as in December. Next planned update tomorrow at 09:00.

Irma and Grus, and various servers are now updated. Work on the rest of the systems is continuing without problems, the upgrade of Domus is in it’s last stage. Next update is coming at 17:00.

The maintenance is going on well. We are still working on Crex and Domus and Rackham is not accessible. Next update at 15:00.
